STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND MAKE THIS TART. NOW. This tart is so delicious and decadent - you won't believe its good for you! With the addition of figs to cut through the creamy yogurt, this is a perfect dessert for the warmer months! Below

BENEFITS
The following is a list of the many benefits a serve of figs can provide to you!
LOWER HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE - Figs are another good source of potassium, a mineral that helps to control blood pressure!
WEIGHT LOSS – High in dietary fiber, figs have a positive effect on weight management, due to a decreased energy intake!
EYE HEALTH - Studies have found that eating 3 or more servings of fruit per day may lower your risk of age-related macular degeneration, the primary cause of vision loss in older adults! So this is not specific to figs per se, but still good to keep in mind!
USES
Here are some of my favourite uses for figs:
♥ Top my porridge or yogurt!
♥ Add to a salad!
♥ Stuffed with goat cheese and walnuts and drizzled with honey!
WATCH OUT!
Some of the not so happy side effects that can occur if you overdo it are:
STOMACH ACHE – Those suffering from constipation can benefit from excess fig consumption, though it may end in bad stomach for others! Try drinking some cold water after eating figs to help with stomach-related issues!
SUN SENSITIVITY - Figs can harm the skin by increasing its sensitivity to sun rays! This can then result in conditions like premature ageing, melanoma, skin rashes and skin cancer! Therefore, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun if you consume figs regularly to avoid skin related problems!!
INTESTINE BLOCKAGE - Figs can cause obstruction in the intestines because of their seeds!!
REDUCE CALCIUM ABSORPTION - Figs contain oxalates, which interfere with the absorption of calcium in the body. This interference results in deficiency of calcium in our body, which can lead to weak bones and other diseases, related to calcium deficiency!

INGREDIENTS. for 8
BASE
♥1 cup almonds
♥1 1/2 cups dates
♥1/4 tsp cinnamon
♥1/4 tsp ginger
♥1/4 tsp allspice
♥1/2 tsp vanilla extract
YOGURT
♥1 kg whole fat greek yoghurt
♥2 tbsp maple syrup
♥seeds from 1 vanilla pod
♥Figs, cut
To do.
Place your yoghurt into a tea towel, draw the tea towel together and tie together with a band.
Place this into a fine sieve and hang over a bowl, leaving the yoghurt in the fridge over night
In the meantime, make the crust by placing all ingredients into a food processor and blending until sticky
Scoop the mixture into a tart pan, lined with glad wrap (ensuring excess is hanging over the sides) and press the mixture firmly and evenly across the base and up the sides of the pan.
Place in the fridge, until yogurt is ready.
Once the yogurt has been left to strain overnight, scoop the yoghurt into a bowl and mix through the vanilla beans and maple syrup – it will be SUPER thick so use that elbow grease!
Pour the yoghurt on top of the base and spread evenly
Return to the fridge for 2 – 3 hours
Remove from tin, by pulling it out from the glad wrap and decorate with figs!
