R A S P B E R R Y OVERNIGHT OATS + the health benefits of berries

Everyone knows how good berries are for them - packed with antioxidants, they keep both our insides and outsides healthy and GLOWING! Today I am going to share with you some extra health benefits of berries you may not know about and a super yummy, quick and healthy breakfast recipe!....ENJOY!

BENEFITS The following is a list of the many benefits a serve of berries can provide to you!

BRAIN POWER - Berries can postpone cognitive decline by about two and a half years due to the high antioxidant status!

MANAGE DIABETES – The fibre in berries help slow down the blood sugar spike from consuming berries and allows them to be a low-GI food!

WEIGHT CONTROL - Because of their fiber and liquid content, berries make us feel satisfied, which is an important part of managing your weight.

CANCER PREVENTION - Flavonoid-packed berries, such as blueberries and raspberries, may help reduce cancer risk!

USES Here are some of my favourite uses for berries:

• Frozen and eaten like “lollies”

• Frozen and blended with almond butter to make a nicecream

• Added to yogurt

• Berry pancakes!

INGREDIENTS. for 1

½ cup rolled oats

1 tbsp chia seeds

½ cup raspberries, fresh or frozen

1 cup milk of choice

1 tbsp homemade Choc Hazelnut spread

1 tsp vanilla essence

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)

TO DO.

1. Mix everything except the choc hazelnut spread together. 2. Then dollop chunks of the spread into the mixture and lightly fold through. 3. Cover and refrigerate overnight. 4. Wake up and VOILA!
